Physik Instrumente (PI) has caught the attention of the judges of the Motion Control Industry Awards for the third year running and is shortlisted in the Manufacturer of the Year and Project of the year categories. The awards acknowledge the achievements of motion control companies and individuals, and have become a leading event in the industry, this year taking place at the, held at the National Conference Centre in Solihull on the 10th of April.

Earth science is a highly interdisciplinary subject with a focus on understanding the processes behind the formation and evolution of the solid earth, its oceans and atmosphere. At the University of Oxford, researchers are investigating the science behind rock deformations, using equipment developed in collaboration with PI to look at how the microscopic features of specific minerals ultimately influence the mechanics of plate tectonics.
