Integration of external devices via SPI
Interface module with 2 channels for connecting SPI slaves and 1 channel for connecting an SPI master.
Control via SPI master
The channel for connecting an SPI master operates in SPI slave mode. The user can use parameter settings to configure the values being input and output via this SPI channel for various purposes. This makes it possible, for example, for the E-713 Motion Controller to be controlled by an external SPI master. The target positions and current position values are transmitted using a 32-bit data word with minimum latency and an update rate matching the control frequency of the E-713 Motion Controller.
Connecting peripheral devices via SPI
The channels for connecting SPI slaves each operate in SPI master mode and are intended for integrating peripheral devices. Typically, devices from PI are connected to the SPI interface module as SPI slaves, e.g., the E-713.S18BHX sensor box for up to 8 encoder channels with 32-bit BiSS interface.
Modular design
The SPI interface module is intended for use in modular E-713 Motion Controllers. The modular concept makes it possible to assemble E-713 Motion Controllers exactly according to customer requirements. An E-713 Motion Controller controls in a coordinated manner up to 16 axes with various drive types. This involves the use of state-of-the-art control and linearization algorithms. Optional interface modules support motion automation.

Specifications
Two channels of the SPI interface module operate in SPI master mode. These channels are intended for connecting external SPI slaves, e.g., sensor boxes from PI and cannot be configured by the user.
One channel of the SPI interface module operates in SPI slave mode and is intended for connecting an external SPI master. The E-713 Motion Controller treats the values transmitted via this channel as analog inputs and outputs. The user can use parameter settings to configure the values for various purposes.
The number of SPI interface modules in one E-713 Motion Controller is currently limited to one module.
