Piezo motors and linear actuators offer unique properties over conventional drives such as DC or Stepper. With the active element manufactured from ceramic, applications in vacuum and non magnetic environments are feasible. PI has many different technologies, including single element and stacked actuators, PILine® which is a motor based on an ultrasonic drive principle and NEXACT® and NEXLINE® which use a stepping (walking) principle.
Piezo Actuators, Flexure Systems & Components
We manufacture our own piezo ceramic material to exacting standards ensuring high quality, repeatability and flexibility in the products available. Product information
- Piezo stack actuators, components & custom designs
- Piezo flexure devices with up to 2mm travel
- Low voltage multilayer devices
- Open loop and closed loop (with position control) options
- Non magnetic, high vacuum and UHV compatible
- Encased or bare stacks
Ultrasonic Piezo Motors (PILINE®)
PILINE® motors and stages use a piezo ultrasonic drive principle. The motor can be supplied as an OEM component or as a drive integrated into a range of open and closed loop stage designs. Drive principle and product information- Compact size > less space required
- Travel range to 150mm
- Velocity to 800mm/s > faster throughput
- Self locking in power off state > low power consumption
- Non magnetic & vacuum compatible

Piezo Stepping Motors (PiezoWalk®)
NEXLINE® and NEXACT® motors use a stepping or walking principle. These motors have a much higher force capability and can provide higher precision positioning than PILINE®. The motors are available as a linear actuator or integrated into a single or multiaxis stage assembly. Drive principle and product information- Compact size > less space required
- Millimetres of travel with nanometre resolution & repeatability
- Self locking to 600N in power off state > suitable for high G and low power applications
- Open and closed loop (integrated position sensor)
- Non magnetic and vacuum compatible
