Miniature drives for dispensers
Increasing miniaturization requires precise dosing devices for minute volumes in the microliter or even nanoliter range. They make it possible to realize applications in the laboratory and also mobile solutions for dosing medication or for lab-on-a-chip devices, for example. At the Compamed 2009, Hall 8a/ H29.5, Physik Instrumente (PI) is presenting its new U-155 ultrasonic miniature motor with dimensions ranging from a few millimeters to a few centimeters which is specially suited to microdosing.
The miniature piezo motor is mounted directly on the circuit board for the driver electronics and offers outstanding performance specifications: Speed of 100 mm/s, 4 mm scanning range, 0.7 N force at minimum power consumption. An oscillating piezo ceramic moves the directly mounted slider, which can be flexibly matched to customer requirements. In addition to dosing tasks, this robust miniature motor is extremely well suited to mechanical manipulations of any type, the positioning of small objects and the operation of switches.
